CH 00 · Covr Suite for Medusa
Five Covr products. One Medusa plugin.
The same Covr Discount, email codes, State Limit, VIP and Cart that Shopify stores use, for Medusa v2. Your developer installs it in about ten minutes, and you set everything up in your Medusa admin.
CH 01 · What's in it
Switch on only what you need.
Each product has its own page in your Medusa admin and is off until you turn it on. Your storefront needs no changes, apart from two lines for Cart's suggestions.
Covr Discount
Codes that leave out sale items, and a clear message when a code can't apply, like “SUMMER doesn't apply to sale items,” instead of a generic error.
Email codes
One-time codes for welcome, abandoned cart and win-back emails, kept topped up in Klaviyo, or downloaded as a file for any other tool.
State Limit
In the states you pick, only returning customers who are signed in can place an order. Checked before any payment is taken.
VIP
A membership shoppers buy or earn by spending, with free shipping, a percent off and products only members can buy.
Cart
Bought-together and trending suggestions from your own orders, never out of stock, with a drop-in widget for your storefront.
Package protection is its own package, installed the same way: Covr Protection for Medusa.
CH 02 · Install
Five steps for your developer.
Medusa 2.16 or later and Node 20 or later. Covr never needs access to your code.
- 01
Install the package
In your Medusa backend.
npm install @covrsuite/medusa - 02
Add it to your config
In medusa-config.ts.
plugins: [{ resolve: "@covrsuite/medusa", options: {} }] - 03
Add your license key
As an environment variable on your backend. For email codes, also set COVR_SUITE_SECRET_KEY (make one with openssl rand -base64 32).
COVR_SUITE_LICENSE_KEY=covr_med_... - 04
Run the migrations
Then deploy or restart as you normally do.
npx medusa db:migrate - 05
Check it's on
In your Medusa admin, Settings, Covr Suite should say On. Each product is set up from its own page there.
CH 03 · Cart on your storefront
Two lines, and the suggestions show.
The widget comes from your own Medusa backend, so there's no third-party script and nothing to install in your storefront. It adds to the shopper's cart, follows your fonts, and hides itself when there's nothing to suggest.
<script src="https://YOUR-BACKEND/covr/cart-widget.js"
data-publishable-key="pk_..." defer></script>
<covr-suggestions cart-id="cart_..."
product-href="/us/products/{handle}">
</covr-suggestions>On a product page, use product-ids and region-id instead of cart-id.
Colours, corners and font come from CSS variables, such as --covr-accent and --covr-radius.
Building your own cards? The same suggestions come as JSON from /store/covr/recommendations, priced for the shopper’s region.
CH 04 · Safe by design
Built so it can't break your checkout.
Without a valid key the plugin switches itself off and your store runs as before. Promotions and customer groups it made stay yours.
Never blocks a checkout by mistake
Every check fails open. If anything goes wrong inside the plugin, the cart or order goes through as if it weren't installed.
Your key is checked on your server
Covr being unreachable never touches your checkout. A check-in every 6 hours sends the key, the plugin version and which products are on. Nothing about shoppers or orders.
